Howard and Sons of London were one of the best upholstery chair makers of the Victorian era. They were as well known as the antique furniture makers Gillows for the quality and styles of furniture. Howard and Sons worked together with Gillows of Lancaster on several occasions and it is said that they manufactured pieces of upholstered furniture for Gillows and other renowned makers like Maple and Co.

Howard Bridgewater Chair

The Howard Bridgewater Chair is a timeless piece of classic elegance, measuring approximately 90 cm in depth and 74 cm in width. Designed with a slightly longer leg profile than the Ivor and Titchfield models, it offers a blend of superior comfort and refined style. The chair features feather and down-filled back and seat sacks, providing plush, inviting seating. Its construction includes coil springs and hair pads, ensuring long-lasting support and comfort. The arms are thoughtfully padded for extra relaxation.

We proudly present our exquisite reproduction of this iconic chair, affectionately named the Ellen, inspired by the charm of Port Ellen on the Isle of Islay. The Ellen embodies all the luxurious details of the original Bridgewater, making it a perfect addition to any sophisticated living space.

Howard Ivor Chair

The Howard Ivor Armchair is a refined classic, with dimensions of 89 cm by 86 cm, designed to bring elegance and comfort to any space. This armchair is celebrated for its generous depth and unparalleled softness, featuring feather and down-filled sacks that offer a truly luxurious seating experience. Built with coil springs and finished with hair pads and padded arms, the Ivor promises durability without compromising on comfort.

Our carefully crafted reproduction of this cherished piece, named the Charlotte, pays homage to Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay. The Charlotte beautifully mirrors the comfort and timeless design of the original Ivor, making it a favorite for cosy, stylish interiors.

Howard Wing Chair

The Howard Wing Chair is a masterfully crafted, exceptionally comfortable wing chair, with dimensions of 75 cm in depth, 82 cm in width, and a height of 110 cm. This chair features a sprung back with a soft hair pad, providing superior support and gentle cushioning. The seat is also sprung and includes a feather and down pad, making it the ultimate in cosy, luxurious seating.

Our beautifully made reproduction of this classic, the Kilcholman Wing, is inspired by the Kilcholman Distillery and the breathtaking shores of Machir Bay on the Isle of Islay. The Kilcholman Wing embodies the elegance and comfort of the original Howard Wing Chair, making it a stunning addition to any sophisticated setting.
